JUNIOR STYLIST POSITION AND CHAIR RENTAL AVAILABLE Job purpose:
Drive business in the salon by creating classic or contemporary hair services. By continually improving personal and technical skills thus creating a reputation and following that attracts loyal and new clientele.
The ideal candidate will be passionate, creative and be commited to continually improving your skills to stay current with the trends and styles. Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Knowledge:
• An understanding of all aspects of the hairdressing industry and of changing fashions and trends • Keeping up to date with new collections within the hairdressing industry
Skills and experience:
• Minimum experience NVQ level 2 and has the ability to learn and has potential to grow. • Able to liaise with all types of customers, listening to their wants and delivering them through helpful consultations that educate and inform the clients of your intentions thus generating maximum income with client satisfaction. • Styling cut and colouring skills • Open minded to learning new skills and the ability to pass these on. • Communication and people skills; ability to inspire inform and share ideas to other members of the team.
Key relationships:
All staff will need to be able to liaise with other stylist, assistant, Managing Director and head office personnel.
Job Responsibilities: Main responsibilities
Customer service
• Consultation on services, how often they are needed and how they can assist with the clients' individual needs. • Ensuring client is happy, comfortable and knows what is occurring throughout the time within the salon • Offering homecare advice - how to maintain the service provided and get that 'salon look' at home • Clear and coherent client records for colour and retail purchases • Promoting re-booking and loyalty in clients Service and Retail sales
• Advising products to aid the concerns clients express about their hair • Up selling a service, recommending a client has a treatment with colour as will aid the lasting effect of the service or a cut as well as a blow dry • Hitting targets and increasing overall revenue • Flyering where necessary to increase clientele
Training self and others
• External courses provided, for example Wella colour courses. • Taking assistants through cuts and colour techniques ensuring they are aware of the theory behind the technical skills and how they can explain their knowledge to their advantage. • Health and safety training • Fire procedures
Salon operations
• Health and safety, keeping fire exits clear, performing skin tests for colour clients. • Assisting in off the street retail sales and client consultation. • Housekeeping, keeping sections tidy, keeping equipment safe and clean
Other duties
• Creating a positive salon atmosphere • Attendance at salon opening and after darks.
